Unlike many dealers who rely heavily on auction stock, every vehicle at David James is sourced privately. Each car is collected and driven back to our site by our own team, giving us the opportunity to thoroughly road test it before it even arrives for sale.

Service & MOT

Every car we sell undergoes a full service and a brand-new 12-month MOT, regardless of when the previous MOT or service was completed.

Even if a vehicle has 10 months of MOT remaining, we still carry out a fresh test. Why? Because MOTs are ultimately open to interpretation — and we prefer our own trusted and experienced testers to inspect each vehicle, ensuring it meets our standards before it reaches you.

Unlike many dealers who simply top up the oil and label it a “service” — or who skip the MOT if it was done within the last six months — we go the extra mile. We believe our customers deserve complete peace of mind, knowing that the car has been properly inspected and serviced before handover.

During an MOT test, the examiner may identify advisory items — issues that aren’t serious enough to fail the vehicle but could require attention in the near future. While there’s no legal obligation to act on these notes, disregarding them can often lead to unnecessary inconvenience or costly repairs later on.

12 Months Clean MOT

At David James, we take a proactive, customer-first approach: every vehicle we sell is prepared and presented with no outstanding MOT advisories. If any advisory items are identified during our inspection process, they are resolved before the vehicle is made available for sale.

For full transparency, you’ll receive detailed documentation outlining all mechanical preparation, including any components repaired or replaced prior to delivery.

Sadly, it’s still common practice — even among main dealers — to retail vehicles with a list of unresolved MOT advisories. At David James, we believe our clients deserve better.

Fuel For Your First Journey

Nobody likes collecting their new car and thinking “will I make it to the nearest petrol station and where is it?” All cars purchased do tend to have very little or no fuel left in them. As part of the Service Support Fee, we will ensure there is sufficient fuel to turn any warning lights off prior to collection, typically a range of 30 to 60 miles.

Ceramic Coating Administration

If you choose to have your paintwork protected using the leading Williams Ceramic Coating and Fabric Protection product, we will administer the lifetime warranty of this product and also take care of any warranty claims you may have during your time of ownership.

Service & MOT Reminders

It is easy to forget when your service and MOT is due. At David James Limited, we have a dedicated team in place that will send you a reminder in advance via SMS straight to your mobile with details of any special offers we have for you to take advantage of.

It is imperative your vehicle servicing and MOT are kept up to date as failure to do so could lead to the warranty cover becoming void.

Manufacturer Recalls Taken Care Of

It is vitally important to identify any outstanding manufacturer recalls prior to handover. At David James, we take this responsibility on your behalf to ensure your safety, protect your time, and eliminate any unnecessary inconvenience. By proactively addressing recalls before sale, we save you the hassle of navigating main dealer lead times or delays — so you can enjoy your new car with complete confidence from day one.

Fresh Number Plates So Your Car Looks As Good As It Drives

At David James, we believe that presentation matters — right down to the smallest details. That’s why every vehicle we supply is fitted with a fresh set of branded number plates as part of our standard preparation.

Tired, faded, or cracked plates can significantly detract from the appearance of an otherwise beautifully presented car. A clean, new set of plates not only enhances the overall look but also adds to the sense of pride and excitement that comes with collecting your new vehicle.

If you’re transferring a private registration, we’ll take care of the entire process for you — including the online assignment and providing new, correctly branded private plates, free of charge.

Upon the purchase of your new vehicle, we will valet your vehicle and prepare it to the highest standard before your collection.

We appreciate this greatly and want to reward our customers, so we will provide you with three referral vouchers on delivery to the value of £150.

Price Promise

Many dealers will charge you additional fees without demonstrating any value to their customers. Some even promote the fact they charge NO fee but then their vehicles are overpriced!

At David James Limited, we are confident that this product together with the competitive pricing of our vehicles gives you, our valued customer, the BEST value for money.

HPI Check

We take care of the HPI on your new car as a matter of course, and we also HPI check your part exchange vehicle (should you have one) at our own expense, typically in the region of £10 to £15. You do not need to HPI a car you’re purchasing from us.

When choosing what stock to buy, we go the extra mile and think like you, the customer. Carefully checking the vehicles service history, owners and more importantly, carrying out mileage checks at our own expense. If you would like a copy for your records, please ask and we will be more than happy to provide you with one.

Registration Documents / Change Of Ownership

V5 registration documents are completed by us, again taking out the hassle for you of registering your new car in your name. We also help you with your new car by administering your tax for your new vehicle onsite on the day of collection, meaning when you leave, your vehicle is road legal.

Finance

We do a great deal of work behind the scenes with our partner finance providers, negotiating the best rates and bringing additional finance companies on board to make your new car even more affordable.

We process all your finance needs in-house rather than using brokers, who will take a percentage of the amount borrowed, and complete all paperwork for your new agreement and settle directly any outstanding finance on your part exchange, taking away the hassle of you having to organise this yourself.

Hassle-Free Transfers – On Us

If you’re travelling to us via Newcastle Airport or Newcastle Central Station, we want to make your journey as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Simply take a taxi directly to our showroom, and we’ll be happy to reimburse the full fare on the day of collection. This eliminates the need for additional transfers, buses, or train connections — giving you a more seamless and hassle-free experience from start to finish.
